Since January, 12 girls aged 9-19 from the Awesome Girls Mentoring Program have been shooting and directing their own documentary film on the past and present of the Treme and 7th Ward. Featured interviews include Paul Vallas, Superintendent of the Recovery School District, Al Harris of St. Augustine Church, and Rev. Joyce Jackson of St. Anna's Episcopal.

Event: The world premiere screening of "From Our Point of View: Joining Hands to Save Our Community", a youth-produced documentary about life in the Treme and 7th Ward neighborhoods.

Date/Time: Friday, May 8th at 7pm and Saturday, May 9th at 3pm.

New Orleans Video Voices is a local, grassroots media organization devoted to fostering critical, independent thinking through the direct and meaningful use of new media.

The Awesome Girls Mentoring Program has served the needs of at-risk African American girls aged 9-19 for almost 9 years. The program operates under the auspices of Agenda for Children, Inc., a statewide child advocacy organization whose mission is to ensure that all Louisiana children can thrive from birth through adolescence.
